1. Commitment to Accessible Web Design

ANU PDFLAB, created by Anu Tool, is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply relevant accessibility standards adhering to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA.

2. Key Accessibility Measures Implemented

We incorporate the following accessibility features across the ANU PDFLAB website:

  • Keyboard Navigation: All tool controls, buttons, file upload dropzones, and links are fully reachable and actionable using a standard keyboard (Tab, Shift+Tab, Enter, Space, and Arrow keys).
  • Visible Focus Indicators: High-contrast focus rings (2px outline with offset) visually highlight the active element for keyboard users.
  • Semantic HTML5 Landmarks: We use structural HTML5 elements including <header>, <nav>, <main>, <section>, and <footer> to facilitate screen reader navigation.
  • Alternative Text & ARIA Attributes: Meaningful icons and graphical illustrations feature descriptive alt attributes. Interactive components (such as accordion toggles and mobile drawers) include aria-expanded and aria-label tags.
  • Color Contrast Compliance: Text elements maintain a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 against their backgrounds in both Light and Dark themes, with large text exceeding 3:1.
  • Skip-to-Content Link: A dedicated skip link at the very top of each page allows keyboard users to bypass navigation headers directly to main content.
  • Reduced Motion Support: The CSS stylesheet respects the prefers-reduced-motion media query, automatically disabling decorative animations for users sensitive to motion.

3. Ongoing Testing and Compatibility

We test our site across diverse modern platforms, screen sizes, and assistive technologies including:

  • Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Apple Safari.
  • Standard screen readers including NVDA, JAWS, and macOS/iOS VoiceOver.
  • Desktop, tablet, and mobile touchscreens.
